 STEP INSIDE

Carefully restored original details, such as stone-floors and large shuttered-windows, anchor the house in a feeling of timeless tradition. However, the addition of iconic Scandinavian design pieces, brings a modern take on the manse’s heritage. A harmonious marriage of Scandinavian and Scottish creative talent vibrates throughout the house. Work form from eminent Danish artists such as Trine Søndergaard and Peter Blonde sit alongside bespoke furniture and cabinetry from Scottish makers.

Warm colours, natural materials, and thoughtfully curated objects, imbue the lounge and study with charm and personality. These spaces invite the sharing of good conversation, but also provide intimate corners to quietly settle down with a good book.

The atmospheric dining room is a creative hub where art and culinary skill converge. French botanical artist Clare Basler brings elegance and atmosphere to the walls, echoing the seasonality of the ingredients found on our plates.

Lundies is a B-listed 19th century stone house, overlooking the scenic Kyle of Tongue, and mountains beyond. The house comprises a ground floor of communal areas, whilst the upstairs is given over to spacious and private ensuite bedrooms. The bedrooms each have their own individual charm, with pared-back restful palettes, sumptuous linens and spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The shared lounge and study spaces have a comforting homely feel, bringing people together over drinks and warming log fires. The Lundies kitchen is very much the beating heart of the house, a convergence point to meet over coffee, whilst the chefs prepare the day’s menu.

A herb garden opens out from the kitchen, and takes in sea views across the Kyle and historic Castle Bharrich. Beside this, the original L-shaped  steading buildings have been restored and extended, to house three studio bedrooms, a self-catered apartment, and a shared working/meeting space. The buildings frame a picturesque courtyard creating a sheltered central place to gather. A tranquil stream flows through the outer reaches of the garden and features a Nymph Pool - perfect for a cool dip.

We are humbled to have been included in Condé Nast Traveller’s Gold List 2024, a collection of the best hotels and resorts across the world. The inclusion is a testament to the care and dedication of our team in Tongue, and the local community who play such a pivotal role in continuing to shape this special village.

THE STEADINGS

The original steadings have been sympathetically extended to form the sheltered courtyard at the heart of the Lundies’ outdoor space.  Set amongst native birch and woodland flowers, a statement iron Feuerring fire pit takes centre-stage. The Feuerring serves as central gathering point to come together and enjoy seasonal cocktails before dinner, or make the most of the afternoon sun with a good book. The courtyard has a lively, almost Mediterranean feel, especially during our northern long summer evenings.  Throughout the the milder months, dinner may be cooked on the Feuerring or Green Egg barbecue and hosted outside, in the adjacent heated outdoor dining area.  When the nights are still a little chilly, the fire pit offers the chance to make the most of being outside, akin to a welcoming camp fire.
